Lets All Do Our Part to "Keep America Beautiful"
Keep America Beautiful... sounds like an impossible task. Funny thing about impossible tasks though. They're usually not nearly as daunting as first thought, if you can just get a start on it and a little momentum. Momentum has a way of building until it possesses great power.
Preserving the natural beauty around us takes so little effort. It does take a little effort though, as well as a small commitment from each one of us outdoor lovers.
Does it give you a sickening feeling to walk up to your favorite fishin hole only to find it littered with trash left behind by others? Well, it makes me sick too, and I want to try to do something about it. Of course we must all "Pack Out what we Pack In", but, in my estimation that is not enough. We also have to chip in just a little bit, to make up for the people that just don't get it.
We have not inherited the earth from our fathers, we are borrowing it from our children.

I know, I know, why should we have to clean up after others? My answer to that is somebody has to set an example, and get the ball rolling in the right direction. Just take 5 measley minutes, each time out, and pick up a few items carelessly left behind by others. 5 minutes... how hard is that? Exactly. Lets all do our part to keep America beautiful.
The few that don't respect the natural beauty around us, don't respect us either. We can't control that, but we can do our part to help the situation.
I carry a small trash bag along, and spend a few minutes picking up a bit of trash. I do it before I start fishing. Then I have it out of the way, plus then I don't have to look at it while I fish. It only takes a minute or two. Also, others may notice and do the same.
And, if you see someone littering, ask them nicely to be a little more courteous of others or respectful of nature. It's very possible that it has just never occurred to them.
